Simple Internet Meter Display Options
« on: November 05, 2009, 05:34:11 AM »
Hello from Thailand,

I just downloaded and installed the SIM Lite on my Win XP Pro SP3 with IE v8.0.

Previously, to monitor my (download/upload) speeds, I was using "BitMeter 2" program found at: http://codebox.org.uk/controller?page=home (most probably, you are already familiar with it).

I like the visuals of BitMeter - it is scalable and clear, and taking the min. real estate on the desktop.

So you would like me to make the graph monitor scalable? I will see what I can do  ;D

Also on the monitors you can hide the totals and title leaving just the progress bars as well. And on the graph monitor it just leaves the graph.
There is also blend to desktop mode and others.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Done! ;D

I released Simple Internet Meter Lite 2.1.1 and Simple Internet Meter v2.2.1 today, they both now can resize the graph monitor.

Take care

Thank you, Shane.

I Installed v. 2.1.1 Lite ... and it is much better, a.k.a. resize-able.

Yes, I have noticed the options of hiding the totals and title, blending to desktop mode, etc., but is it possible to increase the font size of Send & Rec. Speed (and others). It just too small and difficult to see on my monitor with 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution.

Thanks again.

The goal of the app was to take as little space as possible, so I used a small but thick font. Thing is I have things so tight that making it larger would cause the fonts not to fit. Such as right now look at the speeds, the word "Bytes" the "Y" is already getting its tail cut off lol.

On a side note I will be adding some charts & graphs the reports section soon.

Maybe a compromise is to allow users to change fonts themselves, the same as changing colors. So each one adjust it according to the personal preferences, monitor resolution, etc.

Shane is always up for feedback on any applications.  He will definately do what he can but remember that he wants to make sure he has an easy to use, lightweight (as in computer resources), useful app and he has to make sure that any changes will work with everyone.

We definately encourage feedback!  ;D

To have an application that is easy to use, lightweight (as in computer resources), useful, etc. is undoubtedly in my interest as well.

Well bud I have looked over changing the fonts (or I should say letting the user change them)
And It simply wont work. I made the size and position of everything in the program to be small and with the current font. When I change it to anything else it simply doesn't fit.

I always try my best to add what the users want. But in this case changing the font would require a TON of work.

Perhaps we can find something in the middle? Something that make its easier to see for you but still fits like it should.

You are more than welcome to email me, we can get on msn or yahoo and put our heads together.  ;D Nothing better than working something out with a user of the program.
