Cant DCC Transfer/Send on mIRC using Prolink 9200AR
« on: July 29, 2009, 07:15:58 PM »
im tryin to transfer files thru mirc, got a tip from portforwarding.com to open a port 1024-5000
ref: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Prolink/H9200AR/mIRC_DCC_-_IRC_DCC.htm but when i try to send sometimes it doesnt work, there is some instances where i cant send a file. i also configure my mirc connection/port configurations but to no avail.

i set up a static configuration on my pc:
ip: 192.168.1.88
gateway: 192.168.1.1

setup from modem:
protocol: tcp
local ip: 192.168.1.88   local port: 1024-5000
remote ip: none           local port: none

is there any other steps that i miss, please help, thank you.

My simple port forwarding supports your router, you could have it do it for you. But if I'm reading what you put right then you need to put the ports in the public ports as well as the local ports.
I have attached a screenshot of what should be your port forwarding page.

so what I would put is this,

protocol: both
local ip: 192.168.1.88   local port: 1024-5000
remote ip: none           public port: 1024-5000

Once you have that done I would then close mirc, and then run the port tester in my simple port forwarding program under the tools menu.

If you still have trouble with it working and you have the port forwarding rule set up right give this a read

Let me know how it goes :-)

ive just deleted the old settings and add the new one you told me and used the PFPortChecker, all ports from 1024 to 5000 works fine, "Your Port Is Open". but still when i send a file to other people seems there is still some glitches.

here are some log errors:
[10am 57:08] DCC Send of DCS1001.jpg to olrac timed out
-
[10am 58:17] DCC Send of DCS1001.jpg to ToFastFromFurious[AG] incomplete (00:00:01 8.00 KB/Sec)

sometimes i can send a file:
[10am 54:12] DCC Send of TestingDCCSend.txt to erik` complete (00:00:04 3.33 KB/Sec)

but mostly all transfers cant, but i can receive a file.

thanks anyway shane, still reading your tread on Common Problems & Fixes For Port Forwarding, hope this will help...

ok also let me know what my port tester says as well if  you don't mind :-)

There have been a couple of users who used port forwards port checker tool and it said the port was open when it wasn't, so it never hurts to double check :-)
