Network Setup Between Windows 7 And Vista
« on: June 02, 2016, 07:53:31 AM »
Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to do this, I cant seem to get my office comps networked together. I have two using windows 7 and one using vista. End result is i need to be able to grab stuff from the other two comps and give them stuff while im on mine, i had it working but then i had to do a system restore on mine due to an unwanted windows 10 upgrade, now i cant remember how to do it... any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you say that, what kind of Method/Server are you talking about:

a) File and Print Sharing

b) FTP

c) HTTP/HTTPS

d) POP3/SMTP/IMAP = E-mail

??

i dont know what all that other stuff is, but i do know that i want file and printer sharing ability... i used to have it set up but i cant remember how i did it years ago... my main deal is if i am working on a spreadsheet i need to be able to throw it over on to my bosses comp without putting it on a flash drive and walking over there and physically doing it... printer sharing would be cool but not totally necessary as each of the comps in the office have their own printers

Not including port forwarding ( and allowing users from the outside ), it would be better to use something else. Such as HTTP or FTP.

I point you to

http://www.online-tech-tips.com/free-software-downloads/how-to-create-your-own-windows-file-sharing-server-to-share-large-files/

To use FreeNAS you must have a spare computer as it is own OS, but first you might choose the other options..
