Remote Viewing Not Working on Home Network
« on: April 25, 2016, 08:32:48 AM »
I recently got uVerse internet service.  I configured the ports of my Lorex DVR and opened the three ports in the Firewall settings of the uVerse modem.  I downloaded an app for remote viewing that I have used in the past.  Configured the app and tested it with Wi-Fi turned OFF and it works great!  However, as soon as I turn ON my home Wi-Fi, it stops working and says server unavailable.  Any ideas as to what settings I may have missed or what is causing this problem?

Thanks in advance!

#1 Does this DVR have both a wired and a wireless NIC?

#2 In router:

a) It's DHCP Range should not occupy the whole subnet.

b) If it does, you need to make it smaller.

For example if the router is at 192.168.1.1, the first IP Address that it hands out is 192.168.1.2 and the last IP Address that it hands out is 192.168.1.254 - you could change so that  the first IP Address that it hands out is 192.168.1.100

#3 On the DVR, you did setup a Static IP that is the same subnet as the router but outside of it's DHCP Range?

For example if the router is at 192.168.1.1, the first IP Address that it hands out is 192.168.1.100 and the last IP Address that it hands out is 192.168.1.254 - you could the DVR be 192.168.1.6

#1.  The DVR is wired only, no wireless NIC.
#2.  I will check the DHCP range to verify that.
#3.  The DVR is setup with DHCP, not Static.  Does it need to be switched to Static?

Yes, try that.

If that still does not fix the issue, please post:

Including the exact brand and model of your router.
