Port Forwarding Arris NVG510 AT&T Modem
« on: August 28, 2015, 12:18:16 PM »
Hi Shane,
I’m having trouble operating the Auto Port Forwarding App. I am having issues trying to port forward an Arris  NVG510  AT&T modem.
IE Version: 11
Windows Version: 7
My Device Access Code: 34372771XX which is printed on the side of the DSL device.
My Network  Name:  ATT768
There is no user name or network name required to log into the device
I’m trying to forward  3 ports  1st, http 80; 2nd client 9000; and_ 3rd mobile 1025.  The equipment ip’s are: DVR 192.168.1.119; computer LAN http:// 192.168.1.254. The program makes it to step 12 but the errors are the same for each port.
In the alternative I tried to open the ports in the firewall myself using the inbound and outbound rules.

Dont bother using the port tester, that is only for testing connects to the machine it is running on

You said you have a Arris  NVG510  AT&T modem yet in the program you choose "AT&T - 6800G (AT&T Firmware)"

Which is why the script was failing. Also the NVG510 is Motorola, this one in the program "Motorola - NVG510 (AT&T Firmware)"

I agree and disagree at the same time.

If the user forwards the ports to the DVR and the ports do not open, then the user could forward the ports to their computer as perhaps those ports are blocked at the ISP level but other ports that they could use are not blocked?

OR

Forwarding to their computer first to get make sure that the ports are open according to the client side port checker. Once they know that they are open, then the user would forward to the DVR unit.

Thanks for the feedback. Were are getting closer.
I had to log into the modem before I ran the app. Good catch on the incorrect modem selection.

It looks like the router was successful forwarding all three ports to the dvr (192.168.1.119):
80 to 192.168.1.119 Successful
90 to 192.168.1.119 Successful
1025 to 192.168.1.119 Successful
I am not seeing the cameras on my android.
Are there any other checks that I may perform?

** Also I have checked the notify me of replies box for the forum but I'm not receiving an email notification.

#1 Quoting my self

Quote

#1 Let me give to you an example what happens with my router running tomato firmware.

With loop back in my router set to Off, if I am behind my router and if I enter in my public IP: I can't connect to anything.

With loop back in my router set to All, if I am behind my router and if I enter in my public IP I can connect to the router's UI as if remote control of the router is turned on.

With loop back in my router set to Forward Only, if I am behind my router, if I enter in my public IP and I have a web server running on port 80: I am able to connect to my web server on port 80.

With loop back in my router set to Forward Only, if I am behind my router, if I enter in my public IP and I do not have a web server running on port 80: I can't connect to anything.

**

#2 Based upon the above info, I have guess that your router has loopback support, it set to Off.

#3 I also have to say that:

a) Not all routers will allow users to adjust the loop back feature.

b) OR if they let the user adjust the loop back feature, they can only turn it off and on.

#4 As how to test for loop back (reverse nat), I point you to http://www.pcwintech.com/test-for-reverse-nat

#2 Advice: I would advice checking if the router supports loop back (reverse nat) and report back the results.

#3 After you check for loop back (reverse nat) and report back the results, we will go from there.

We got working every body. I upgraded to a NVG599; I used the Motorola NVG589 AT&T Firmware. The Lorex Auto Port Forwarding built the custom services. I had to edit the incorrect device to my DVR's ip.
All is good.
Thanks and you may close this ticket.
