Still no updates my modem
« on: August 08, 2015, 09:30:22 AM »
Hello Shane,
I still see no update for my modem which is the TG1672, my games are on moderate open ports and can not open anything. Also I do not know my modem IP since I am using a wireless router with this modem. SO I can't seem to figure it out the IP for it. Need plenty of help on this one, installed a new OS and need to do the whole process again, thanks.

Your modem also acts as a router, so you are behind 2 routers.

Since you are behind your wireless router you will want to do your port forwarding there and simple setup DMZ in the new modem to point to the WAN IP of the wireless router

Ok, I see what you mean, althought I put my Ethernet into the cable modem, I should be better off, correct? Also, another thing that annoys me is that I keep losing speed on my internet. Earlier I had over 230Mbps, now I am less than 60mbps. Not sure what the hell is going on.

Well when it comes to speed there are some things to remember.

I am on charter, cable internet. During busy times of the day my speeds dont get the max speed they are suppose to, during off hours they do.

This is because it is the same thing as sharing a water line with your neighbors. If everyone has their water on at the same time the water pressure goes low and you dont get the same amount of water at the same rate you normally do. To many people are taking from the pipe.

Cable internet is basically the same thing. you are sharing a big pipe with everyone in the local area.

You will notice this more during times of the day more people are normally home from work or school, you will notice the speed suffer. But during the night after people go to bed, or during the day when most people are at work or school you will notice the speeds go just fine.
