I want to open UDP and TCP ports on my Motorola NVG510 router for my Ooma Telo.  Came across this program and it sounded like what I need.  However, when I click on the download button, I get about 10 choices: Mirror 1-8 and Direct Download and Zip File.  Which download  do I choose?

Also, I don't quite understand something:

once I open the ports, are they open temporarily or permanently?

this is a follow-up question: I just clicked on this link:

I don't see my ATT Uverse Router listed:  Motorola NVG510.  Could you let me know if it is on your list of Routers?

Those are mirror sites that host the file, the direct download one means it downloads from my site, so just grab that one :-)

Port forwarding rules stay on until you remove them.

This is worth a fast read

That is the router screen capture, which is used to get screen shots for a router that isnt in the simple port forwarding program.

And your router is in the simple port forwarding program as Motorola - NVG510 (AT&T Firmware)

thank you for your help!  - so far as I have managed to download and install Simple Port Forwarding.

But I am already stuck.
  - I guessed at the user name and password for my ATT NVG510 router (Admin/Password)

  - I entered 7 UDP ports and 3 TCP ports to open.  For those ports without a range (all but one) I made "starting port" and "ending port" the same (is that correct)?

  -  then I hit "update" and I do see all my ports listed.

   - however, when I tested them there is a "fail" message on all of them.

uh oh,  what did I do wrong???  (see attachment)

here are the screen shots you requested:
1.  Simple Port Forwarding - first page of ports applied
2.  Simple Port Forwarding -  second page of ports applied
3.  Test your Port Forwarding - shows all failed

thanks for help!

oops.... disregard the 3rd screen capture - that was before testing.  Here is what it looks like after testing.  As you will see, all the ports tested showed "fail"

#1 Something is very odd.

a) In the first screen shot of the port checker, your LAN IP is 10.0.0.2

b) In the second to last and last screen shot of the port checker, your LAN IP is 192.168.1.2

c) In the portforwarding app, you are shown forwarding to 10.0.0.2

#2 It is time to do a network layout inventory.

#3 If you are not sure of the network layout, start of by physically finding the equipment.

#3 This was my network layout what it used to look like.

a) A phone wire and a power wire from wall jack goes to power surge protector

b) A phone wire and a power wire from power surge protector goes to my Westell-F90-610015-06

c) An Ethernet wire from Westell-F90-610015-06 goes to my Linksys E4200's RJ-45 WAN/Internet/To Modem Port.

d) All of my computers are either connected to the Linksys E4200 by wire or by wireless.

#4 If not sure of what kind of cable is (or cables are) used, that is fine as long as you can just tell everything what you know about the network layout.

I need a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router, not my program :-)

Shane, and others,
I wanted to followup with a thank you for trying to help me open ports on my Motorola NVG510 router.  As much as I used to enjoy doing techie things, I am getting to be an antique and finally decided I was way over my head with this issue.  I finally gave up and  got help from Uverse support.  They did help me  to open the 10 ports.
Also wanted to say how impressed I am with the huge amount of documentation that supports the Simple Port Forwarding software.  Amazing.
  Janet
