Ports offline
« on: February 03, 2015, 04:35:52 AM »
Hi, I've been using this software before on the same computer and with the same programs before. I changed my router, but I found the new one in program's router list, so no problem.  But now when I test ports for my newly installed torrent programs the test fails. I have the correct router, I added the entries correctly and updated the router. The ports not forwarded are for utorrent and qtorrent. And BTW both ports for emule are working correctly.

Is there any way you could help me with this issue? Do you need me to some screens of the spf program or the router settings.

Thank you

#1 Forward the ports to your computer in the router.

#2 Post the following screen shots:

a) Showing how you forwarded your ports in the router.

b) The results of this port tester
http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-port-tester (if you have any computers that run Windows)

(Or if on a Mac computer, A screen shot of the results of the simple-port-tester for mac.)

Lets go from there :-)

Also make sure utorrent and qtorrent are closed when using the port tester

These are the screens you requested. I'm not absolutely sure I understood you correctly, so if the screens are not what you need just write me and I'll send you screens you need.

BTW I did't get notification e-mails about your replies. I don't know why. My e-mail is working and I checked notify me of replies button.

OK, the program isnt adding the two new rules because it already sees the rule name on the page, so you need to rename the rules to something different, and then it will work. As you can see the first 2 ports work and are open, the other two fail because they are not getting added since the have the same name.

Also make sure utorrent isnt set to change its port at startup every time, other wise the port forwarding wont work as the port will always change.

Also, utorrent supports UPnP, which is auto port forwarding, if your router has UPnP make sure it is enabled and you wont have to add the port forwarding rules for utorrent

Thank you very much.

After I changed app names and updated router the test results were successful. But the network test in utorrent was still negative, so I enabled the UPnP in router settings and the test result was positive even in utorrent. I thought when the ports were properly forwarded I didn't need to enable UPnP, but I guess it needs to be enabled despite correctly formatted ports.

Thank you once again for your assistance.
