black screen, no cameras show image
« on: October 31, 2014, 07:21:49 PM »
started having intermediate trouble [that evolved into permanent trouble].
1st, cameras would not all playback at the original planned times [two weeks].
Then some cameras went black.
then all went black
I did an update and they started working again.
today they all went black.
coincidentally, I received some critical updates from Microsoft about the same time this trouble surfaced.
And, am unsure what my username and password is

Do they still show up black if you try another computer?

Thanks for the reply. [and for the quote]
After I stopped trying to trouble shoot the programing I went back to the connections.  The neutral wire had poor contact.  I cleaned it up and terminated the wire back in place.  No trouble since.  Did discover a couple of quirks about different brand cameras at same location.  Oh, and Yes--same trouble with all 3 computers [including the PC connected to the DDR].
I liked that quote...."Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile".
The first time I read that was in ATLAS SHRUGGED.  Ayne Rand had a view diametrically opposed to yours.
I can see you are both right.  Her perspective was that it wouldn't work to live that way [by force].  I gather your view is that it's perfect when we volunteer to serve others.
That was unexpected and cool.
Thanks for sharing.

No problem :-)

Yes if the problem happened on 3 computers then the common factor would be the cameras or the connection itself and not the computer, which is what you found out when you fixed the connection :-)

The way I handle problems is by a process of elimination, I make a list of things to check and mark them off as I go till i find what is left
