Uninstall Internet Explorer
« on: September 05, 2014, 09:39:15 AM »
Too many IE files, security updates, etc. How can I uninstall IE and get rid of all files associated with it. I read some where that IE is so embedded in windows xp, which I have, my system would be messed up. Is this true and if not how can I get rid of all these files.
Thanks

A lot of programs use files from IE as well. I dont like or use IE, but I leave it installed and I simply use firefox instead. Having it installed isnt going to hurt anything and will keep from breaking the system or programs. Just use another browser :-)

#1 I point you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Removal_of_Internet_Explorer

a) For example of software that will help doing that, they talk about..

http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html

http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html

[EDIT] Be advised at that Wiki, it clears says/implies that you must have IE on your computer to get Windows Updates (down where it says Impacts)

[Another EDIT] I point to http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/getting-windows-updates-without-ie.332834/
