Ports refuse to be forwarded...Really need help please.
« on: August 27, 2014, 03:41:06 PM »
Hey guys, first time user here..I have searched everywhere, done everything, but I cant fix this issue.

I have been trying to forward ports to my Xbox One, in returned creating my NAT type to open.

My current specs are.

Router: Netgear N600 Model WNDR8300
Modem: Arris TM902
Service: Charter.

Following this guide.  http://www.entertainmentbuddha.com/how-to-get-an-open-nat-on-the-xbox-one-for-better-connections/
Everything was going good. However the problem started occurring when I was attempted to forward the ports.
Every time I would enter the Xbox's IP addresss ( or any IP that was 192.168.24  instead of 192.168.1 the error message " the ip address should be within lan subnet" comes up.

Here is a image of my routers connection.<img src="http://i.imgur.com/ovrW983.jpg" title="Hosted by imgur.com" />
The second (linksys) is my phone line, its called T-moblie home and basically uses the internet for your phone.
My only guess is that this is whats causing the problem?

Please help, you guys will be saving me 500$, because atm my xbox is currently unplayable online due to Strict Nat type.

Since both routers are yours, one of the possible fixes to fix your issue is addressed at

Xbox also supports UPnP, so once you do the steps my guide shows you when you are behind 2 routers, you dont need to do any port forwarding, just make sure UPnP is enabled in the router

UPnP is auto port forwarding.

#1 Just to be clear about what he said:

a) Forward/DMZ in the Arris TM902 router to the Netgear N600 Model WNDR8300.

b) In the Netgear N600 Model WNDR8300 use UPnP.

As to why: I can assure you just using UPnP in both routers setup like that (double NAT) will not work.
