REMOTE LOGIN ON ENGENIUS
« on: August 16, 2014, 10:36:19 AM »
I Instaled  a wireless camera system for a trailer park , for the acess point i used a Engenius 700EXT and 5 Engenius ENH 500,bridged to the 700EXT . THE dvr is a Nexxa 9 channel hybrid,     I can remote login from my office and view the cameras, login to the dvr and also login to cameras to make changes such as upgrade firmware ect.
it is all connected to internet via a Netgear WNDR3700v2 (i can also remote login to that as well)     QUESTION is , i am trying to login to the Engenius access point and wireless bridges, Everyone ,,factory tech included ,tells me to first login to netgear router then go from there , that cant be done because you cant change values of connected devices from the router. Then i was told to foward the router to the IP on the Engenius Acess point , ect.  that is not working,
How can this be done ?

Why on earth did they tell you to log into the netgear first? That doesnt do a dang thing.

Are you trying to access it through the internet? because if so you are behind 2 routers, that is if the Engenius is acting as a router as well.

What is the local IP of the dvr and what is the local Ip of the netgear? If they are one different IP ranges that would tell me if you have the dvr behind another router.

Did you setup the port forwarding rules in the netgear yet to point to the NVR IP?

Also you said the netgear is 192.168.1.27, shouldnt it be 192.168.1.1?

I set the forwarding rules in the netgear to point to the nvr , that works ,   also i set the netgear IP to what it is
all i want to do is log into 192.168.1.2 (ENGENIUS 700 EXT) remotely  , and i know the public IP of the network it is on
and i dont have a problem paying for instructions how to do this ,,,, if it can be done :)

Ok, next thing to check is in the netgear go to the internet setup page or the basic settings page. There you should see the WAN IP it has. Does it match the Ip on this page?
http://www.pcwintech.com/myip

Make sure to open that page at the same location of the netgear since it will show you the internet Ip of the connection you are on.

OK good :-)

Now when you test by the internet IP address are you testing while you are still on the same network as the nvr or when you are outside the network?

Reason why I ask is most home routers dont support reverse nat
http://www.pcwintech.com/test-for-reverse-nat

So when your on the same network as the nvr you have to use the local IP. Only when outside the network, like I am is when you use the internet IP.

Also, so I can double check your port forwarding rules, post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router and a screen shot of the network setup in the nvr so I can see what Ip and ports it is using.

Also make sure DMZ is off in the netgear and no port triggering rules are enabled
