Medal of Honor Airborne
« on: February 17, 2009, 07:11:35 AM »
I have been trying to install medal of honor airborne for a long time.  I have found out that the reason it will not install is that it trys to install ageia physx first and if you have a newer version of physx installed it stops trying to install right there.  I uninstalled every game I have and my nvidia display adapters trying to get rid of Agiea but it still does the same thing.  I tried to install a old version of Physx (one that came out before medal of honor was released) and it says that I need to uninstall my current Ageia Physx 909.00.10 to continue, I then found out that 909.00.10 version of Ageia comes with the new graphics card drivers.  But I have already uninstalled the graphics card drivers.  So I am stuck.

Any ideas?

from some quick research I

from some quick research I did looks like the trick is to download the newest ageia physx drivers from their website. After that reboot. Then it will be in the add/remove programs. Uninstall it. But then the trick is to go clean it out of the registry as well.

The point to installing the new is it cleans up all the files when you uninstall it. But the old installer is seeing the registry entries so we need to get rid of those. Then reboot and hopefully should work.

MDF/ISO editing
« Reply #2 on: February 17, 2009, 08:30:40 AM »
My plan now is to somehow create an ISO of the medal of honor disc except to remove the Physx driver and replace it with the up to date driver.  Probably will have to rename the new driver with the old drivers name.  But I cannot figure out how to edit an ISO, I made an MDS/MDF file and couldn't edit it.

I did that right after I posted the comment. Will try again later this afternoon.

I cleaned the registry with CCleaner and Registry Mechanic.

the only time you need to
« Reply #4 on: February 17, 2009, 08:37:24 AM »
the only time you need to worry about editing an iso is if it has a boot sector, like a windows disk. This this case just copy the files off the cd, remove the drivers, and burn the data back to a disk. You need to burn it back to a disk and run the installer from the cd drive so when you play the game and put the real disk back in the game will see it and not complain about the cd not being in the drive.

You could just install it from the hard drive and then edit the reg. to make sure it points back to the cd, up to you.

Let me know how it goes.

I have everything that could possible relate to Ageia Physx uninstalled I cleaned the registry with 2 programs and then rebooted.  I changed the phsyx file created an ISO and mounted it.  It stops installing at the Ageia Physx part just like it always does.

geez what a pain in the butt installer.

so the newest is here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_9.09.0203_whql.html

This site says to use driversweeper to help remove it, I never used that before so I dont know myself.
http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic114318.html

and this one seems to confirm on the last post driversweeper gets rid of it then you should be able to install from the normal cd

« Reply #9 on: February 17, 2009, 11:23:38 AM »
so far fear 2 seems a lot better than the first fear. Anyways try that driversweeper to finally remove it and see if it will get you going since it was confirmed to work on the nvidia forum.

I think im going to play some fear 2 now before I head off to some customers lol.
