Asus rt-n66u port forwarding doesn't work...
« on: April 09, 2014, 07:55:32 AM »
Hi,

I have read (like many others) A LOT of different forum posts and tutorials but haven't been able to port forward a minecraft server.

I tried canyouseme.org with port 80 and 25565 with my ip from whatsmyip.org. Didn't work.

The WAN IP is not the same I get from whatsmyip.org, don't know how to change it. I do not have a second router. I had an older router which port forwarding was a piece of cake. Now with the new one it doesn't work.

I have tried with firewall off on the router, I have tried to open all ports with DMZ. Nothing has worked.

Here's some screen shots,

Would mean a lot if you could take a look at this, sorry if I typed anything wrong, English isn't my first language.

Thank you!
Theodor

If the WAN Ip doesnt match the WAN IP in the router then post a screen shot of the WAN IP in the router so I can see if you are behind another router or your ISP has you behind a 2nd network.

Yeah that isnt a local IP.

Your ISP has you behind a 2nd network on their end, which blocks all port forwarding.

Some ISPs do this because they dont have enough internet IPs to hand out to everyone.

So the trick, is to buy a static internet Ip from them. When you do, the only way they can give you a static internet IP is to take you out of that 2nd network.
