Found a silly bug - vanishing Network Monitor
« on: December 10, 2013, 09:10:31 PM »
Installed a new, bigger monitor.
Old one was 1024x768, new one is 1920x1200.

Things looked good.

Everything on the desktop was misplaced so I moved them back to where I wanted.

I put Network Monitor in the lower right corner.

Then I hit the SCREEN RESOLUTION, MAKE TEXT AND OTHER ITEMS LARGER OR SMALLER option to bump text/icons up to 125%.

Fiddled with things for a bit.  After a while, I noticed there was no network monitor.  I  checked.  The NETWORK TRAFFIC still had a CHECK next to it.  No monitor!

After trying this-and-that for a bit, I rebooted the computer.  still no network monitor.

Then I remembered a game I had been testing.  I was fooling with it at 1920x1080 and some of the menu was invisble - it was off the bottom of the screen.  Is the network monitor hiding where I can't see it?

Changed the SCREEN RESOLUTION, MAKE TEXT AND OTHER ITEMS LARGER OR SMALLER back to 100%.

log off, log on... there it is!  Right in the corner.

So I  moved it more towards the screen center, changed back to 125%, log off/log on and THEN moved it to the lower right corner.

Suggest you have the program check that things it displays are actually on the visible display.

IT remembers the last screen position that you move the monitor to in the registry. I also made it a right click option on the try icon to reset the screen position in case it goes off screen :-)
