Minecraft server help!
« on: May 16, 2013, 06:18:56 PM »
Ok, so I recently setup a server on Minecraft. I use to use Hamachi but, I tried port forwarding. I port forwarded and It said the port was open ,but I still can't connect. My firewall isn't the problem because it is turned off. I turned on my server and I used the ipchicken.com ip to log on. It still doesn't work! Hellllllppppp    :blank:

When you say it said that the port is open, what was it:

a) A web site with a web based port checker?

b) A program that you downloaded that is a port checker (Simple Port Checker for Windows OR the Mac version) and acts as a server?

REF for Simple port checker.

Dont use website port testers.

Most online port testers fail no matter what if nothing accepts their connection attempt. This port tester program will open the port on the system it is running on and listen for a connection from this site. So when the port tester program says the ports are open you can count that they are :-)

Post a screen shot of the results of my port tester program :-)

Now that we know that the traffic is reaching you using a port checker with built in server:

#1 Close out the port checker with built in server.

#2 Close out Minecraft, since it was running while the port checker with built in server was running.

#3 More than like the answer to first post in your thread was: Most router(s) do not like loopback (reverse NAT).

When behind these routers, always use the LAN IP Address of the computer.

#4 If you want to test for loopback/reverse NAT, use this tool.
