25565 Closed - Minecraft Server
« on: May 23, 2013, 06:28:20 PM »
Hello,
I have been trying to set up a Minecraft server for quite some time now, but when I try to connect through my public IP, it won't connect. I have also put ":25565" at the end of the IP and still nothing. The screen says Connection Refused: Connect when I click "Join" I can only connect through "localhost," and friends cannot connect either. I ran the port check tool, and both TCP and UDP ports failed. I have attached a screenshot of my port forwarding screen in my router. All your help is appreciated :3

Port forwarding rule looks good, so lets check a few other things.

1. In the router find the page that shows its WAN or Internet IP. Does it match the IP on this page?
http://www.pcwintech.com/myip

2. Make sure DMZ is off.
3. Post a screen shot of the firewall page for me in the router as well.

Lets go from there

Could not find WAN IP. DMZ is off. The windows rule has been added, but I think I MAY have found where I might have needed to input some information. I'm guessing I have to add an IPv6 port service rule? Not sure. Anyways, here's the screenshot attached.

Ok so far it looks good and dont worry about ipv6.

But we do need to check this

Quote
1. In the router find the page that shows its WAN or Internet IP. Does it match the IP on this page?
http://www.pcwintech.com/myip

There is a page that will show it, either on a status page or on the WAN page

I looked through every navigation pane and no WAN IP. Just a router IP and  a subnet mask. Is there another way to find out?

What is the brand and model of this router?

#1 I looked around

http://ui.linksys.com/files/EA3500/

and I do not see the same UI that you do.

Hmm.

#2 Are you using Official Linksys firmware or third party firmware?

#3 If you are using third party firmware, which one?

For example DD-WRT.

#4 If you are using Official Linksys firmware, are you using the cloud firmware?

By cloud firmware, I mean you use https://www.linksyssmartwifi.com/ to get access to your router.

#5 In the router does Status exist?

#6 If so without posting any info from that page (or pages), what kinds of Status is there?

For example talking about what I saw at http://ui.linksys.com/files/EA3500/ for Status:

Router, Local Network, Wireless Network, and Ports.

The firmware is the default from the router, and is called Linksys Smart Wifi. Here are some sreenshots of the UI. I'm pretty sure this firmware is something they just came out with.

Ok, I wonder...

Let us try this.

#1 After logging in, go to Connectivity.

#2 What exist at Basic?

#3 What exist at Administration?

#4 Click on Internet Settings.

#5 Then for IPv4, go to Edit.

#6 Select Static, but DO NOT click Ok OR Save.

#7 Show a screen shot of what you see.

Yeah that new firmware they came out with is pure java based. IE cant see any of the controls on the pages since java does it all. It is the first firmware I havent been able to add support for since I can get access to the text boxes!!

But in all the linksys routers there is a status page which will show the internet IP it has. Have you checked those yet?

No public IP and no status page showing anywhere. So we can't trust what another website tells me what my IP is? Is this the only route to take? Just wondering  . I just want this port open :3, and I can't find my IP anywhere within the firmware, so would we have to trust the site for my public IP? Thanks for all your help so far ^^.

The reason why we need to find the WAN IP in the router is it wont match the ones that show on sites if your behind another router. A lot of times the modem from the ISP is also a router.

So there's no other way to find the WAN IP other than in my router firmware? I simply cannot find it ANYWHERE. I know that you've said on other forum posts that teamviewer is a last resort, but I'm not sure where to go at the moment.
