Simple Port Tester: How to measure results?
« on: March 13, 2013, 03:56:04 AM »
Positively beautiful tool. But I'm having trouble thanks to a combination of two things:

  • The on-line port tester is loaded in the panel at right but comes and goes with no time to read the results mostly, but sometimes yes.
  • The little table of ports to test has an Open? column but no help listing hwat the possible results are. All I ever see is "Success" but I can't determine what that means, does it mean the port is open, and what are the other possible result values?

Would be nice if:

  • the panel on right would leave the last result displayed rather than blanking when done. If testing one port at least I can see the result then.
  • some simple help explained what all the possible results of Open? are and how to understand them

Cheers,

Bernd.

I answered your other post.

Most online port testers fail no matter what if nothing accepts their connection attempt. This port tester program will open the port on the system it is running on and listen for a connection from this site. So when the port tester program says the ports are open you can count that they are :-)
