Port 25565 is closed, help please
« on: December 03, 2012, 08:38:01 PM »
Hello, I joined the forum here specifically to get my questions answered please, I have port forwarded 25565 to my computer. The type of router I have is a Cisco, and a Zyxel modem. I am running my computer wirelessly, and it is a Windows Vista. I have disabled firewall, allowed the ports through firewall, as well as Minecraft, I have used a static IP, and I'm still unfamiliar of what a DMZ is, as in I'm confused on how to set that all up, but I'm not sure if that matters. Could I get some help on what I may be doing wrong?

To better assist you, it would help to know the model of those two routers.

For example of one of the router that I have, is the Linksys/Cisco E4200.

#1 If you did not understand the web page that you were pointed to that talked about the DMZ, you could look at the webpage at grc.com -> Research -> Recent -> NAT Router Security

#2 On another web site with message board, there is thread called DMZ and portforwarding are equally dangerous? which is at DSLR (dslreports.com) -> Forums -> Broadband Tech -> Security -> Security which will help you, considering what you are trying to do.

Ok follow these steps.

1. Log into the linksys
2. Go to the status page (The link is in the upper right)
3. There you will see the internet IP int he linksys, write it down.
4. On that same page the gateway will be the IP to log into the zyxel.
5. Log into the zyxel and go to the port forwarding page.
6. There at the top you will see "Default Server" that is DMZ. Put the IP you wrote down in there and hit save or apply.
7. In the zyxel go to the firewall page there you will see "WAN To LAN" make sure you set that to permit

Hi Guys,
Please help with my Port forwarding for this Foscam camera that I bought!  I thought I did everything right, spend a lot time reading and researching with no success.  My router is TP_Link is TL_WL841N.  The attached files are the screen shots for the Camera and the router settings.
Thanks a lot!

Hello Shane,
I solve the problem, thanks for your article "How To Setup Two or More Routers Together (Port Forwarding & Port Triggering)", it reminded me that I had a phone adapter in tween the model and router.
Thank you very much!

I've done everything you said, except I can't find that last part on my router, where is the firewall located? How do I get there on my Zyxel router?

Make sure you didnt set DMZ in the linksys, that should be off. The only time your in the linksys is step 1 & 2.

Shane, that really doesn't answer my question, I asked how do I get to the firewall page on the Zyxel? I can't seem to find it?
