Port Closed - 43594
« on: November 13, 2012, 04:01:21 AM »
Where to start, where to start...

I've got everything to run a RSPS already but the only problem I'm having is this port-forwarding thing.

I'm not too sure what might be causing the problem.

For example, I've got the 43594 tcp/udp open through my router and firewall yet it still is not working. I downloaded the port checker and it said both had failed.

I was looking at another forum post and it said to check to make sure the IP address used is matching the IP address at http://www.pcwintech.com/myip and they don't. I went to try and change the IP on my router and it gave me the following error code:

The IP address should be in the same subnet as the LAN IP address.

I'm honestly not even sure if that's what the problem is or not. I asked a friend of mine who hosted a RSPS to help me out but he occurred the exact same problem when he tried hosting.

Any idea what to do from here?

Thanks,

John

Lets first check a few things :-)

Post 2 screen shots for me.

1. a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router
2. a screen shot of the results of my port tester program

Lets go from there

Port forwarding rule looks good.

I know you said you did this but lets get a screen shot.

In the netgear go to the basic settings page, there you will see the internet IP. Does it match the IP on this page?

If it doesnt post a screen shot of it for me

I didn't see the IP under basic so I put a screenshot of where I found it under advanced.

The bottom is what IP shows after following that link.

That is an odd local IP the router has gotten for internet address.

If you click on internet port it should show the rest of the info.

The gateway should be the IP to the modem/router from the ISP. See if you can log into that gateway IP.

It is also possible that your ISP has you behind a 2nd network on their end, which means no port forwarding will work. If that is the case, the only way to get out of that 2nd network is to buy a static internet IP from them.

I feel as if that might be what the problem is. I'm a college student running off of their internet. I wasn't planning on hosting from here, I would be using a VPS, however I just wanted to try that out. I'm not supposed to even have a router in my dorm however what's the point of going to college without a little rebellion? Haha. I guess I'll have to wait until I'm back home over the break to get everything figured out.

The friend of mine was also having the same problem but he's at home. I'm not sure why his is messed up.
