Thomson Gateway TG784n - port forwarding problem
« on: October 03, 2012, 06:39:28 AM »
Hi Shane,

Need some advise frmo you about TG784n  port forwarding setup.

Basically, i set my TG784n to port forward traffic to   192.168.1.10:8080,
which is my CCTV DVR.

From internal LAN, I could access the DVR via :  http://192.168.1.10:8080.
But from Internet, it couldnt go through.

I tried your "Simple Port Tester".   If I launch from my PC, it will indicate
"IP to listen on:  192.168.1.5"  , where  192.168.1.5 is IP for my WinXP PC.
I entered port #=8080 TCP & UDP.    The result is "FAILED".

Any other possiblities ?

Thank you.

The port tester is only for testing ports to your computer.

It opens the port on the system and listens for a connection from my web site. So if your not port forwarding to your computer then dont use the port tester

What you can do to make sure port forwarding is working is to forward a test port to your computer, say 1979 and then use the port tester.

Hi Shane

Ok willl try that.

BTW, I do suspect firewall is set in
my Thomson TG784 by the
technician.  Right now, I tried to
login via Admin so that I could chnage
the firewall rule. But I couldnt login with admin access,
perhaps password had been changed.

So, I tried to reset the modem, but still
couldnt login via "Administrator", as the
password is not matched.

Any idea?

Thanks

I think with the thomson the only real way to turn off the firewall is to access it through telnet.

Hi Shane,

Sorry, not so familiar with telnet commands.

1)  Later, I will  try to  login to Thomson via telnet .
 -> Telnet  192.168.1.254.

However, I do not have its admin access , only normal user's access rights.
Is that possible ?

2)  I am only using  TCP/uDP   Port 8080 for my DVR system.

So ,  how should I input it in below ?

:connection unbind application=CONE(TCP) port=8080          ???

:connection bind application=CONE(TCP) port=8080        ???

Regards,

I dont know myself sine I dont have a thomson and never got to try it myself.

You are going to have to google and see if you can find more info on it. First thing to find is the admin login for the telnet. Hopefully the ISP didnt change it
