How long does it take xp to warm up?
« on: September 20, 2012, 07:48:10 PM »
Lets say I turn it on for the first time in the morning, after it loads how long
should I wait before using it-as in 5 minutes? I notice if I wait 10 minutes or
so it seems to run better,of is there a specific time I should wait?

Google has changed so much it is hard to find an answer to a  simple question!

This all depends on the system and what you have starting at startup.

If you have a butt load of programs and services starting up then yes boot up is going to take a while. I had one user with 106 processes running at all times! Boot up took 15 min.

On my system at boot I only have around 50 things running in the task manager.

Not only does the amount of things at startup play a role but so does the system in terms of cpu, memory and the slowest part of the system the hard drive.

Hi
I have only 2 starup entries and my sytem boots from a cold start
in 40 seconds-so should I wait 2or 3 minutes before using it?

I notice if I click the start menu ater it has finished booting there is a lag
of about 5 seconds before it opens-so I think I should wait 5-10 minutes
before using it,that seem ok?
Thanks Shane

No, once you see the desktop give it a min or so for programs to finish opening and you will be fine.
