Audio Codec Problem
« on: August 25, 2012, 06:29:07 AM »
Ok so all of a sudden my audio for videos that I make do not work , this is very recent , they used to work S: I mean this is crazy all a sudden it stopped working :/. It says a different error for other video players too! I showed 3 errors: DivX Plus Player , Media Player Classic - Home Cinema , and Windows Media Player. When I click on help for Windows Media Player it gave me this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/C00D11B1

I like to use the media player classic in that pack. Does it work for you at all?

Looks like that codec is screwed on the system. Can you play other file types?

Mp3 works on them both alone but videos wmv don't work and i dont have any other file types to open with it , do you think you could give me a video to download with a different file type than wmv or mp3. Avi or Flv maybe?

Yeah try an avi file. Just google a avi file to download, you should be able to find something

If it works then we know we need to find a fix for the wmv codec.

Ok so I found out this: Avi works and wmv doesn't.
First I recorded an avi file with camstudio then played it and it opened and played fine , then I made into wmv with windows movie maker for a test and it didn't open it gave me the error again and this link again: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/C00D11B1

WMV should get installed with Windows media player. Are there any Windows updates for the media player?

If it is Windows 7 I dont think there is any updates for it that would fix.

We need to find out what reg keys it needs and replace them. Never had to fix the WMV codec before so need to do some research.
