Login issue in accessing DDNS
« on: July 29, 2012, 04:58:18 PM »
Hello Shane:

I have Lorex 320 8-ch edge DVR and I have been successful in viewing it locally on all my PCs on home network. I have port 80 open and I do have ddns set up (murthys.lorexddns.net). But when I login to this address, it goes to my router (Frontier Fios) screen it does not accept the newly created id and password for ddns. Not sure of the next steps...

Thanks,
Anand

Looks like you have the remote admin feature enabled in the router/modem.

You need to either turn it off or have the remote admin use a different port

Shane:

Thanks. I unchecked PORT 80 for remote adminsitration on my router. The problem has not gone away though. When I log onto my ddns, it still goes to my router...

That is because the router doesnt like reverse nat.

So when on the same network as the DVR you have to use its local IP. When outside your home like I am is when you will use the DDNS name.

I just tried connecting and didnt get the lorex screen.

Can you post 2 screen shots for me.

1. a screen shot of the port forwarding rule in the router
2. A screen shot of the network setup in the DVR.

Oh and in your router go to the firewall page and make sure firewall is off in the router

On the port forwarding page. Is there any rules for those ports?

There are a large number of rules, but not to port 80 or 9000.

Do I need to add the rule for both TCP and UDP, or would UDP suffice? Do I also need to do this for both 80 and 9000, or just 80? The DVR is on port 80. Anand

Normally it is TCP. And I think most of the dvrs use 80, 9000 and 1025

You can log into the dvr and go to the network setup and see what ports it uses
