« on: June 27, 2012, 07:21:56 AM »
does anyone know of a java script code or html code that i can use as a full site search program? the google and other web browser based codes i have found do not work the way i want them to. my current search program acts like a find in page function and i want one that acts as a find in site function. the one i have is java script so i imagine the one i need will be also since all the html based codes i have found seem to suck. i dont want to be redirected to google or any other search engines page i want to be able to type in the search box and it jumps to wherever in my site the term i am looking for is.

Only way I know of search is if your site is database driven. Such as a site using wordpress or drupal.

If it is only html pages then the google search is your best option that I know of

i guess ill just have to write the script myself...i know its possible there are plenty of sites that have the type of search functionality that i am looking for so either ill steal it from them or write it myself.

any suggestions would be appreciated

Almost all big sites are not html pages any more, all the pages are loaded in a database and the pages are drawn from a theme.

Since it is a database search is easy.  But if you have html only pages you will need to write a script that will read each html file and give the results.
