OK before I have you try a Vista Repair install, lets see what the system file checker does.

Open a command window and put in

sfc /scannow

Let me know the results :-)

Also if you could hook it up to a network cable, I wonder if there is any more updates since the last one that might help as well.

No problem! I'll get that scan on the go now. I'm afraid I'm unable to link my system with a network cable. My landlord has the router downstairs in his apartment.

It is always possible something changed in the router. Such as him enabling a mac filtering on the wireless where only certain machine can connect.

But if he didnt change anything, and the SFC doesnt fix it then a repair install is the best option.

I don't think he'd have a clue where to start in all honesty. I have access to the router but I can't see anything has changed with the MAC Address Filtering settings. Anyway, here are the results of the SFC scan:

I'm having trouble finding my Installation copy of Vista, though. Is there a way to do it without it?

No, your going to need a vista setup disk. Not a hacked one, just a normal one. You may need to download one off the net.

In the router go to the wireless settings, you will see a mac filtering option. Make sure it is off. I bet it is.

Another thing you can try is my windows repair tool, have you gave it a try yet?

Is it this one http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html? I shall give it a go :cheesy:

Will downloading a legit copy of Vista be a torrent job do you think?

(Again, thank you so much for your time! Is there any way I can at least buy you a coffee to say thanks?)

Consider it done. It's the least I can do considering all of the help you've given me.

Enjoy your evening, Shane! I'll let you know how everything went tomorrow. I think I might need to sleep first though....lol

Eternally thankful,

Scott

Hi Shane,

I'm having trouble finding a download for Vista x64 with SP2 attached. Any ideas as to where I could look?

I've yet to use your repair tool, but I thought it would be a good idea to have it ready just in case.

Hope you've had a good day,

Scott

I wont post any links to torrents. That just brings the dogs out lol

I know we are not looking to do anything illegal. But better safe than sorry.

thepiratebay.se is a popular one. Try looking there :-) Remember, we dont want a hacked copy if you can find one.

Hi Shane,

I used your Windows Repair Tool this morning but it didn't work unfortunately

I have managed to get myself a copy of Windows Vista x64 Home Premium with SP2 though so I will give the Repair Install a go.

If that doesn't work what do you recommend as my next step?

Hope you're having a good week!

Scott

If the repair install doesn't work, but it most likely will then a fresh reinstall would be the last option
