wireless router not broadcasting a signal.
« on: May 05, 2012, 08:39:46 AM »
Hi Shane:

I'm having router problems.  Long story short (I won't bore you with details) my brother-in-law messed up my router settings while he was trying to get his computer to connect to my wi-fi, and now my router is no longer broadcasting a wi-fi signal.

I can connect to the internet with a hard wire, but no wi-fi.  The blue wi-fi light on the front of the router which previously always displayed is now off.

It's a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router, WNDR3400
My computer uses Windows Vista.

I tried unplugging everything (modem, router, computer) and reconnected everything in that order, but it still doesn't show any wi-fi signal from the router.

I also re-ran the router set-up wizard with the disk that came with the router-- no success with that either.

It's some kind of setting in the router, but I'm not sure which ones to check.  I did look at the "wireless settings" page for the router, and the "broadcast SSID" is "enabled."

Where do I go from here to correct this?

Thank you.

Advanced wireless. You have to enable to wireless radio bud

You will see one for the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz enable both.

Thanks Shane!  That solved the issue.

After I started looking at the pages, I kinda figured that might be the problem, but I also saw the "warning" from Netgear to not adjust those settings if you don't know what you're doing-- which I don't...lol... so I thought it best to wait until you looked at it before I changed anything.

I've learned my lesson about letting inlaws mess with my computer equipment!

Could you please delete the screen shots I posted?  I don't want my router info/pin, etc., out there for all the world to see.

Thanks again!
