Two icons do not show in tray at start-up
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:17:08 PM »
Hi
Two icons do not show in tray at star-up: 1.Sounds and audio devices and 2.Safely remove hardware.
If I restart windows explorer right after start-up, they will always show up.
Assuming this is a Win explorer`s  issue, what can I do to fix it?
Thanks

I have seen the problem where icons dont show up. This is because of a windows service.

I disable it on mine and the problem goes away.

There are 2 services to try.

Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN
and
SSDP Discovery

Try disabling the SSDP Discovery first and rebooting. See if it is fixed

SSDP Discovery is used to find UPnP devices on the network. Not to many people need it enabled

I disabled SSDP, did three reboots, and icons are back every time, and if I `m not mistaken I think I`ve noticed a shorter boot time. Thanks Shane.
