Minecraft Portforward on a Zyxel P-2602HW-D1A
« on: April 16, 2012, 05:00:32 AM »
Hey, I'm having trouble portforwarding Minecraft on my Zyxel.

I put in 25565 as ports and I'm not sure about which IP to use. When I check what my IP is on the internet it's a different one from what I see in the IPconfig IPv4. I've tried both and couldn't get it open. I activated the upnp and permitted WAN to LAN firewall security. I'm really stuck. I have only one router. I've tried portforwarding with simple portfoward too but once it gets to the part to fill in the ports it doesn't do anything. It's not able to select ''user define''.

I'm seeing stuff about TCP and stuff but it's not in there.

EDIT: I got the port open by playing with some settings but my friend still can't join my server. I let him try the external IP:25565 and the IPv4:25565, both can't reach the server. I'm totally stuck.

You use the local IP for the port forwarding rule and the internet IP is the Ip your friend will use.

Post a screen shot of the results of my port tester

Thanks for the reply. I take it the local ip is the IPv4 one and the internet is the external one?

I've added the image. It fails the test for some reason. I've tried multiple times without luck. I've turned off all firewalls on both the router and anti-virus, but nothing. Hope you can help!

Your local IP is .34 but in the port forwarding rule you have .33

Edit the port forwarding rule to .34 then try the port tester again

I fixed that when I tried the test, I forgot to mention it. I hooked up a newer router but couldn't get that one configured right for the internet so I put back the zyxel. The Local IP changed because of that. It seems I've got it all set up right, can this thing of mine even port forward?

Go to the firewall page in the router and make sure WAN to Lan is set to permit

The next thing to do is find out if the problem is the router or your system.

Do you have a 2nd system we can setup a port forwarding rule to?
