future cmd line support?
« on: March 12, 2012, 10:31:51 PM »
hi shane!

thanks for this lovely software :) i only had it for three hours before i bought the pro version    hee hee  :cheesy:

there is NOTHING wrong with it im just here to ask if you have any plans on making some command line controls for this nice piece of software? im sorta like a rainmeter freak and i really want to make a applet / skin that could control some of the cleanmem features. like for example the clean memory now option, show file chache / memory / process info, the new pause option, and whatever i can get really! all from the desktop looking just like the rest of the computer monitoring applets

i have even heard with the rainmeter gurus if anyone would be interested in making a plugin for cleanmem written to do the same things. if you know your way around C/C++ or C# you could have a look at the new SDK and mabye do it yourself ^^, this would be a chanse for cleanmem software to make it big in a new and growing community as well

cheers from norway

What kind of command line options are you looking for?

Cleanmem and the mini monitor are two different programs

examples:

"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -C   ;clean memory now
;or is this what CleanMem.exe does?

"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -P   ;toggle pause advanced monitor
;opens child process so rainmeter can read it's status?
                                                                                       ;with this http://rainmeter.net/cms/Plugins-Process_beta

                                                                                       ;or can this be used?

"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -f    ;show file cache info
"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -m  ;show memory info
"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -p   ;show process info

"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -m  ;show memory info
"%PROGRAMFILES%\CleanMem\Mini_Monitor.exe" -p   ;show process info

Some of these are part of the pro version. (The info that is pulled) I can see about what info and how to have it pulled to report to other programs. Tons of different ways. But which is the best?

yes i know some are for the pro version.. this only means some skins will have more features for those who have the pro version of cleanmem :)

i've been asking around but with no luck yet. are you looking for some sort of data scraping software or where you asking in witch way it should be sent? if so i (and the rest of the world) would go for C\C+ SendMessage function

The program is made in VB. But I do have some code that lets me messages. Its done by the Windows API.

I could just have the mini monitor output to a file. But with SSD and some people freaking out at unneeded writes to the drive I could see them complaining.

But there is one way I can do it, the way I have done this type of thing before. Winsock :-)

On some of my other programs like my old cs fire monitor I have a screen saver with it. The screen saver sends a command to cs fire monitor and the program reports back.

By using winsock it can be done locally on local host and even be pulled across the network. Giving you the ability to watch the memory on multiple computers on the network. Just have to have cleanmem mini monitor running on other machines.

Just thought I would let you know I am working on v2.4.0 that will have the remote feature.

I will also have a screen saver and remote viewer with it, both with source code so people can make more and better ones for the mini monitor
