Side bar

I use the side bar for a few gadgets. I pull the gadgets off the side bar then close it. I then will position them where I want them. Any idea why when I restart they move slightly to different positions? If don't put them back and restart again they move a little further.

Thats an odd one.

In my program I store the screen position that they are at. And when it loads it sets them back.

If you have your DPI or fonts set higher it could be causing the side effect. Windows changes how many twips are in a pixel when you change the DPI so it can cause odd behavior.

This may have fixed my problem. I got it here.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/567977-sidebar-gadgets-moving-changing.html

When you install new gadgets, uninstall old gadgets, or sometimes when gadgets crash, the sidebar Settings.ini file gets corrupted. Remember, when you uninstall a gadget, all the ini data is still left behind in the file. To fix this you need to close the sidebar and rename the ini file (xxxSettings.ini), but don’t delete it. When I need to temporally rename files, I use 3 xxx’s because they’re easy to spot. By renaming the file, Vista will build a new (clean) Settings.ini file. You’ll need to add all your gadgets back and adjust their settings. When you’re sure everything’s working fine you can delete the renamed file.

File location: c:/users/your computer/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Sidebar/

Hope this works for anyone else who has this problem
