3WebCube, Huawei B135 3G UMTS Modem
« on: December 28, 2011, 06:04:03 AM »
Don't normally need support for computers, but I am in Austria trying to get a Y-Cam past the above model modem/router to the outside world. The camera functioned perfectly with my home router and both allowed web access and ftp successfully.
Port forwarding does not seem to work here and I did try "simple port forwarder" as well as manual setup. The modem/router does not seem to properly start upnp even after a reboot.

I searched for this model on the forum without success. Does anybody have experience of setup for this modem/router?

Should have added that dyndns is working perfectly, and the camera url is in the DMZ, DHCP turned off, fixed addresses.

First thing to check is that your ISP doesn't have you behind a 2nd network on their end. A lot of 3G internet ISP;s do this to keep people from hosting anything.

Here is how to check. Log into the router and find its WAN IP. Does it match the IP on this page?

If it doesn't then your ISP has you behind a 2nd network on their end

Ouch, yes it matches perfectly! Thanks for the insight. This is not something I had any idea about. Is it give up time or are there even cleverer alternatives? BTW the fast response is much appreciated, and makes me feel not quite so stupid about not being able to solve a problem myself.

If the internet IP does match the IP in the router then we need to see if port forwarding works at all.

Set up a port forwarding rule to another system hooked on the same router and then use my port tester on that system, setup a random port like 1979

Let me know the results

OK with laptop firewall and AV off tested with your program, Microsoft's "Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool"  and "UPNP.tester" by Noël Danjou.
Although the router says upnp is open, it is not. I guess a corrupted program? Life is too short so I am giving up and leaving the country tomorrow. But thanks very much for your help, it was appreciated.
