Windows Firewall
« on: December 19, 2011, 03:36:57 AM »
Hi Shane,

I've read that you don't run a software firewall (windows firewall?) when behind a router, and I was curious if I would be just as safe to disable the windows firewall since I'm behind a router? Would this also speed up my computer (I currently don't have any problems, just trying to further tweak my computer).

I keep the Windows firewall enabled. I have never noticed a difference with it on or off.

The only time I use firewall software is when I need to block a program. Otherwise a router is a hardware based firewall. I also don't have any open ports to my system. And even if I did they would only be ports I use for my programs. No ports that a hacker could use for Windows
