Windows XP causing my laptop to overheat!
« on: November 15, 2011, 07:10:52 AM »
Hey Shane! I'm back with a new problem. I've recently bought a capture card to record some of my xbox gameplay. The only problem is that the quality on windows 7 is pretty crappy. I installed windows XP and the quality was immaculate! However on windows XP my laptop kept overheating every 10 minutes, luckily I made a boot disc so I installed win 7 again. I wanted to know why windows XP causes my laptop to overheat and if there was any way to stop it from overheating so that I can go back to it. Thanks!

XP shouldn't be causing the overheating. If the CPU is being maxed out it will produce a lot of heat. Sounds like your laptop cpu fan isn't keeping up to its job. Windows 7 uses the CPU a little better and under clocks it when it isn't needed. Which makes less heat.

In XP go to the power saving options and put it to minimal and XP will under clock the CPU when not in use as well
