...Yeah okay it's Minecraft...
« on: November 13, 2011, 12:24:03 AM »
Another troubled Minecraftian here.

I have a very skilled friend who has been trying to walk me through forwarding my ports to allow for a Minecraft server connection, although we've hit a speed bump. My router is a linksys BEFSR41. It seems there are 4 versions of my router in the drop down box selection screen in the portforwarding program (v1, v2, v3, v4), although I have no idea how these are differentiated. In any case, I went through the procedure with all of them just to be sure, and each time, everything would run smoothly except for step 7, the port tester. Each time, the results were failure. I may have left some information out as it's 2:30 am here and I'm not feeling my freshest

Let me know if there's any other info you need to help me sort out this issue, thanks!

Lets check to make sure your not behind a 2nd router

Log into the linksys and go to the status page. There you will see its Internet IP address. Does it match the IP on this page?

From the status page ( http://oi44.tinypic.com/2dbkr43.jpg ), it appears my address is 10.0.0.2

The page that the picture is from is the IP your port forwarding program pulls up on the main page (192.168.1.1).

I tried your multiple router/modem program, it said I'm behind 2. I then tried to follow the troubleshooter steps. I typed 10.0.0.2 into my browser address bar and attempted to enter the IP that picture is from (192.168.1.1) into the DMZ. When I entered and enabled it, then saved, I was unable to return to that router menu. I then tried to deactivate it by going into the other router (http://192.168.1.1/). When I deactivated it, my browser wouldn't load THAT router again either.

I gave it a few minutes of time (I think it needed to verify the disabling of the DMZ), and was then able to access both menus again (just now actually)! A crazy ride, for sure.

Recap: I'm behind two routers/modems and have full access to all router menus.

All of this make sense? >_<

Did you follow this?
http://www.pcwintech.com/how-setup-two-or-more-routers-together-port-forwarding-port-triggering

So log into http://10.0.0.1

Find DMZ and enable it and point it to 10.0.0.2

You shouldnt be offline after doing it. It might go down for a min as it might be rebooting.
