Nope, havnt got any wireless mac filtering on the router.

In router setup, I can see her laptop on the Attached Devices list, and she is connected to the wireless network, with excellent signal, just its Unidentified and doesnt provide internet access. When we hook her laptop up to the router with an ethernet cable, the internet works fine, btw.

OK is there anything else connected to your router by wireless?

Also can her laptop connect to other networks besides her home network and work fine?

I need to find out if the problem is in the router or her system. Best way to do that is to try and find a common factor

Nope nothing else connected by wireless. Just my own PC which is connected via cable.

I was using wireless previously, which worked fine.

She has connected to the university wireless network fine before.

My other housemate can connect her laptop to the router absolutely fine - she runs vista, just connected and typed in the network key and it worked for her.

Then I think it is safe to say the problem is not the router but it is her laptop.

Since we know it is something with her laptop I want to test this more.
Do you have a local coffee house or some place that offers free wireless? I want the laptop to try and connect to other wireless networks to see how it does. It may have connected to the university wireless but I want to test it more.

Lets go from there based on the results :-)

Yeap :cheesy:
Take the check mark off that 2nd box. Once you have done all that open a command window again and do ipconfig /flushdns

And give the internet a try

That script may still be in the system, try rebooting and then double check that the check box is unchecked in that section again

Lets check another area.

Go to network and connection sharing.
On the left go to manage adapter settings.

In here go to the top and go to Advanced, then advanced settings. Get me a screen shot of that

Um, there's no "Manage adapter settings" on the left in Vista. Just manage network connections. That brings u to a list which includes the wireless connection. Right clicked on that > properties, came up with a list of IPv6 and IPv4 things. Is that what you're looking for?

In the window before you right clicked, you should see advanced at the top in the menu
