Encore ENHWI-G2 internet limitations question...
« on: June 25, 2011, 11:00:34 PM »
good day shane!

hi just want to ask some internet limitation usage for Encore ENHWI - G2.

here's my problem

i always left my modem and router whole day and night but it seems that my kids knew about it so they are always online after their respective online hours (its gmt+8 in my time so after 10pm they should be disconnected already but it seems that they are still connected.

so my question is can i set time of internet usage of Ipod Touch, and Netbook through my router using their mac address or ip? because i want them automatically disconnected after the time i give to them.

hope you can give me some light on this.

thank you and more power!

Some routers have the ability to control the time that the internet is allowed but it doesn't look like yours has any option like that (http://www.pcwintech.com/screenshots-encore-enhwi-g2-encore-firmware).

If your router doesn't have any options for what you want then you will need to add a new router to the mix.

There are some routers that have what want and you can simply add to your current setup.

The cheapest and I think the best way to do this is to get a router that can handle the customer DD-WRT firmware.

With it you can have what you need

I'd agree that another router would be the best way to go. The problem with using software to handle this is that the only effective way to accomplish your goal would mean that all internet connections go through a single computer...and that's really the purpose of using a home router. DD-WRT gives you a ton of options.
