When you setup the port forwarding rules, do you have them pointing to your computers local Ip or the local IP of the dvr?

Can you post 2 screen shots for me?
1. a screen of the port forwarding page int he router.
2. a screen of the network settings in the dvr.

This way I can see if everything is setup right

HI Shane,
attached the pic of my set up.
router/modem AT&t  2 wire 3800HGV-B (192.168.1.254) ;  DVR QSEE QC444 (192.168.1.81)
I'm able to ping my DVR in CMD but  Simple Port forwarding say NOT Found. Tried diff. router ver (6, AT T)
Turned off McAffee Firewall and also Windows (disabled)
Port checker says OPeN but in use. same for all the other ports (81, 82, 83, 84, 85, & 89)
Hope you can help.

thanks and look forward to hear from you
Xandre

The port tester tool isn't needed. That is only when testing ports to your computer. Since we are forwarding tot he DVR the port tester wont work.

Shouldn't need to worry about any firewall on your system, again port forwarding is going to the dvr not your computer.

I just tried connecting to you and I am getting the dvr page, so looks like it works.

When home you connect to the DVR by its local IP. When outside your home you connect to it by your internet IP.
You cant connect to it by its internet IP at home because some routers don't like reverse nat.

But I can connect to your DVR, so looks like your working

Hi Shane,
Thanks for the reply.
So even if the Simple Port Forwarding says "Not Found", it did forwaded it. I test th router (2wire 3800 HGV-B) and it failed the reverse NAT test. Means it doesn't support it so I can't check the DVR remotely while I'm at home but should be able to do it fom an outside network (Iphone or Android phone). Is there a program I a use
to check from my home computer?
Thanks fr the help and lt me check from my Iphone and android tablet. will let you know how I do.
  cheers,
Xandre

You will have to see if the DVR maker has an app for the iphone or android.

If you want to check from your home computer you just open internet explorer. Put in the local IP of the dvr and the port
http://192.168.1.81:85

When outside your home you use the internet Ip instead
