Computer keeps rebooting with v2.1
« on: May 13, 2011, 10:42:20 AM »
I installed v2.1 and tried to run mini monitor when I encountered my first reboot. After computer rebooted, I decided not to run mini monitor but the computer randomly rebooted within 2 minutes. So I uninstalled v2.1 and installed v1.42 from an old hard drive. No reboots for over 5 hours now and counting. Can I still download older updates so that I can determine which of updates cause the reboot problem?

The program isn't making your system reboot. What is happening is when the program goes to access one of the windows system files, the system has a corruption somewhere and it reboots.

Cleanmem itself is still the same from the older versions, except for some bug fixes. Still the same API's calls. And cleanmem runs by default every 15 min. So it would be causing a reboot 2 mins after reboot.

The mini monitor try's to access the windows control file so it can draw the buttons as windows does. What you can do is delete the mini_monitor.exe.manifest file then try running the mini monitor again.

The manifest file tells windows to use those controls, getting rid of it will have the program draw in the old style buttons.
I had another user who delete the manifest file and it fixed the reboots.

He never got back to me if the fix worked.

The newest version has a lot of bug fixes and such, I really don't want users using the old versions if I can help it :-)

Glad it worked :-)

Would be nice to try and find out what needs fixed on the system to stop it from rebooting. If you ever want to help me trace it down let me know

I may have a fix for the reboot when using the common controls.
I cant seem to get anyone to test it!

You willing to try it out and see if I can finally squish this bug?
