Unable to view my Lorex Internet Security camera screen
« on: April 28, 2011, 11:59:41 AM »
Hi Team!  :artist:
I have downloaded and installed the Lorex Auto Forwarding Program.  When I test the installation connection, I see the Lorex Remote Screen where you can select Remote Setup, Play, Backup and Remote View.  When I click on Setup or any other button I get an internet browser window flashing for a split second, but then I get a blank browser window.  I have reinstalled and still a problem.  I made sure the Lorex settings on my system was updated with the proper new settings, to connect to Lorex DDNS.  My Lorex security system is actively connected to the internet and I confirmed, with DDNS update.  I also made sure my Pop Up Blocker is off.   I understand I need ActiveX to see it, but nothing pops up to request installation for the specific browser window.  It is just blank.    I am concerned since we are leaving for CA tomorrow, for the next 30 days, and I want to keep an eye on my home.    Hmmm.  What can be the problem?     Would you please assist me?     Thank you!!   Enrique

This is the help forum for the program I made for Lorex, Lorex Auto Port Forwarding.
Are you having trouble with it?

How ever I do help people with anything computer related, so I will also help you with this if it isn't the program

When viewing the camera through a web browser it has to be through Internet Explorer. Did you also confirm the port forwarding for the camera was setup correctly?

Hi Shane!  I Love your motto and mission in life!  Thank you my freind!  Shane, I am not sure what you mean by port forwarding my camara.  My DDNS has the information as requested by Lorex, such as domain name, and port is 80.     :undecided:  Enrique

This is a fast read and will explain why you need port forwarding for the camera.
http://www.pcwintech.com/what-port-forwarding-nutshell

The lorex program was suppose to setup the port forwarding. So that should be the first thing we check.

But before we do that, can you post a screen shot of the network setup in the camera?
This way I will know the local ip and port information for when I check the port forwarding rules

HI Shane!   :cheesy:  I am attaching the port forwarding on router.  The camera is setup on the same web port 80 and I am assuming forwarding to or from Lorex 3310.  The only other port is connection 5000 using for the local viewing.  The IP Address is the same, 192.168.2.2 on the camera as the router port forwarding.  The standard DNS Server and Gateway though, is 192.168.2.1 Should there be that difference?  Thank you!!   Enrique
PS.  I had problems attaching doc.  Here are the numbers on row 1 & 2.

Lorex        5000  5000  TCP  192.168.2.5    5000 5000     (Local port viewing)
Lorex3310  80     80     TCP  192.168.2.2    80     80         (Port fowarding setup)

on Belkin Router

Why is the port 5000 rule pointing to 192.168.2.5 if the camera is 192.168.2.2?
You should change it to 2.2

I am going to need some screen shots. Do you know how to take screen shots? If not I can tell you how

HI Shane,  If you mean Print Screen and copy to word, yes.  I had problems attaching word yesterday.  I can try again.  What specifically should I take screen shots of?  Using my computer?  I don't know how to take screen shots on Lorex monitor where cameras are connected to.  Thanks!!  Enrique

Instead of word, open paint and paste in there. Then save them as jpg's

Ok the quickest way is for me to check everything. So here are the screen shots I need.

1. Screen shot of the port forwarding page in your router (I can check that the rules are setup properly)
2. Screen shot of the network setup screen in the DVR. This way I can confirm the local IP and port for the DVR matches the port forwarding rule.

Lets go from there

Everything looks great and setup properly. I removed the picture with your DDNS account, didnt want someone getting that!

I just tried to connect to your dvr and it still isnt working. So we need to check a few more things.

Log into your router. On the main page when you log in it will show you the wan or internet IP. Does that Ip match the ip on this page? http://www.pcwintech.com/myip

Also, in the router go to the DMZ page and make sure it is off. Let me know if it wasn't

Ok thanks :-)
I noticed you have remote admin enabled, so I can log into your router and take a look. Do me a fav and log into your router then click log out at the top. Then I will be able to log in and take a look at the settings making this faster :-)
