Huawei connecting to my ip cameras
« on: April 18, 2011, 07:58:09 AM »
hey shane...my cameras are working great thanks to you. i am looking to do a couple more things with them now that i would like your help with if you dont mind. number one is i have a huawei android phone that i just got and id like to be able to view my ip cameras from it. i am able to log into the cameras and i get the screen with all the functional stuff on it but the video is not coming through. im thinking maybe i need to update my phone or something but i dont know where to start. second problem is it seems my cameras are changing their ip addresses so i would like to set a static ip on them if you could tell me how to do that it would be great. again thanks for the wonderful work you do here.

No problem.

First the IP of the camera.
Just log into the camera settings, find the network settings and make the IP's static. Give them higher end addresses like .250 & .251

Then change the port forwarding rules with the new IP's

When it comes to viewing the cameras remotely 2 things are needed.

1. the codec needed for the video and sound. Codecs tell the player how to draw the video and play the sound.
2. the ocx control for the browser.

So if doing it from a phone your best bet is to see if the camera company has an android app for it. Normally they are not going to play nice in the phones web browser. You need the app for it
