Sure - although 25 MB/s is still pretty high. I would start with 20 MB/s or even lower.

I can easily hit 130+ MB/s read or write on my relatively modest system (traditional 7200 RPM SATA disks). Check out attached tool which is regularly referenced in the tech community (often used to assess flash drive performance). Demonstrates impact of both block size and total file size plus has some nice controls.

I like my new test code better LOL

I have it giving me a estimated time till it is done with the file test, and it uses pure windows apis and you can control how big the buffer is. I am able to get faster reads and write then with the bench tester you gave me.

Perhaps I should make a drive speed bench mark program and add it to my toolbox page?

I will leave the default to 25 mb for now. I think its a good starting point.

But before I release it. When we first started you said it wouldn't be a tool you would use as is. To me it will be ready for release when it has been fine tuned to the point that you want to use it.

So lets cover any bases we can and make the changes we need to.

Anything else besides wanting a tester? (I will make a separate one)

Grab the new setup and see. Let me know

I updated the tray icons to look a little more round. I think it looks better. See what you think.

Hope to put this out tonight if I can. But I don't want to put it out then do 5 updates the next day lol

I have it running on a couple systems and find it useful in the silent configuration I prefer. I could see installing on a couple client machines that seem to get bottled up from time to time due to limited IO capability. Seeing a yellow/red indicator light up in the tray would signal something is happening vs the machine just going away for a few seconds. I probably won't keep in running at all times because unlike CleanMem it is a passive vs active tool.

Only a few small items - none serious enough to warrant holding release:
- Autostart task lists current user on general tap and all users on trigger. This config has been discussed at length in the CleanMem forum. Would prefer 'Administrators' and 'Current User', respectfully.
- add a space after 'Read:' so that data values align vertically with write values shown below
- option to eliminate bar fill (just display text - handy when using blend to desktop)
- considered requesting a write cache flush when double clicking monitor - but then thought better of it as windows seems to handle this just fine

.

I am square type of guy and always disable rounded edges. But this is a personal preference thing. My initial take on new design is it adds, ah-hem, a feminine touch to the icon.

Gotta wrap up for the evening. Kids are wondering what happened to their dad ...

Going to make a fw changes, post here then release.

Going to have a fire and marshmallows with the kids soon :-)

I'd just go back to square boobs ... or maybe dots like drive lights.

Low res - hard to tell (immediately pixilates). Maybe just go with the original towers.

Just set the bar fill color the same as the background colors

Not really needed as it is a monitor only, and cleanmem already does this.

Well start getting the page for it made and released :-)

Ms. PacMan bars look ok

Hum - maybe I'm a dumb cluck but don't see how this solution will work with 'blend to desktop' enabled so I just get floating text and no bars.

I wasn't thinking, I see now, blend to desktop mode but without the bar fill.

2 possible ways.

1. send the bar fill the same color as your desktop. Wont work if you don't use a solid color.
2. Make your own bar fill graph pic that is just a transparent gif file. Of course I would need to change it to let you use a bar graph in compact mode.

In fact I should re-enable that. A user could always use a custom pic that is the correct size for the compact version.

I will re-enable those now. Maybe I should make some compact bars to go with it.

My background is not solid. Perhaps you could include a transparent .gif in the distribution

Not sure how many users create/use their own bars. Ideally I would leave the bar fill graphic option disabled with the compact bar enabled and include an option for text only (ie: don't display bar regardless of whether full or compact). Of course you could implement this any way you want behind-the-scenes.
