Repeater for multiple signals
« on: March 09, 2011, 10:30:20 PM »
I think I will go the custom route, as I think it will be cheaper. So, I may be able to use some custom firmware to help me.

The question is: is it possible (with customizing or not) to make a repeater repeat more than one signal?

Also, another question: if I put a repeater at a place where the signal is 1-2 out of 5, will it be able to produce a strong signal?

Thank you :)

You will only be able to repeat a single signal per wireless radio. Even if you have a router with multiple wireless radios then I wouldn't expect much luck and I don't know off the top of my head if there is firmware (custom or not) that will do that.

For the second question, you could get a strong signal to the repeater but the signal won't be any stronger to the access point so the total signal strength will still be limited to the weakest link.

Look into DD-WRT firmware, that bad boy can let you do a LOT of things.

Definitely a good idea. I used DD-WRT to create a wireless bridge out of an old router to make a "wireless" connection for my Xbox 360.
