CleanMem v2.1 (Free/Pro Version)
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:59:21 PM »
CleanMem 2.1 is released :-)

http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem

If you have the release candidate just simply install the final release over your current. No need to uninstall :-)

I truly hope you like it.

And the most important thing is this,
I couldn't have made CleanMem what it is if it wasn't for the users and my testers.

Truly, thank you all!

Charging a (small) fee for the PRO version is good because then people will ask themselves: ""Do I REALLY want all those new features"" ?? CM v1.70 is good enough for me.

I hope you can keep the GUI simple, intuitive and user friendly.  I would like to see contextual menus within the app giving clear and concise details of what each process does and the implications of killing it. Keep the explanations of simple and easy to understand and offer direct links to google for more info.
Above try and offer features not offered in the many rival products, though what they could be I am not so sure.

Is CleanMem worth making a new version?

Right now CleanMem does a ton of stuff for users already. The new features would be the icing on the cake for the advanced users who want total control and would be cheap to buy the pro. But is the pro even needed?

But having said that, is it even worth it? Or should I focus on a new program instead?

Right now I am getting feedback on what to have in it and how users would like to see it. I am making it for the users, not myself, so who else better to get feed back lol.

Once I have a clear idea of what is going to be in it and what will be done, it won't take me more than a week or so to get it finished and ready for testing.

But for now, over the next week or so I need feedback of what my users would like to have in it

You asked about possibly focusing on a new program. I have been looking for a simple system files backup like the built in Windows Restore that would be able to make a restore point on a schedule and at all system changes (software installs and updates) either automatically or on demand. Also, a backup/restore for Network settings. Win7 has one. Found one for WinXP, but it takes 1.5gb ... that is a lot of Network settings

I think that the pro version is worth the $5

Does the Pro version has free lifetime upgrade?

I haven't thought about it to be honest.
Right now I am still getting features to put into 2.0, I haven't thought as far ahead as v3.0

I like the direction you are taking and will be one of the first to invest in a "pro" version should it evolve as described. One quick suggestion: be sure any auto-clean actions are time restricted so they don't continuously invoke cleanmem.exe in high memory/system utilization scenarios. I don't know what the right minimum interval is; stikes me that anything under 1 min is probably too aggressive.

I was thinking the same thing. I am thinking of making it a user set option to how long the auto clean will wait before running again.

The true trick to everything I will be doing in 2.0, is how to include as many options as possible, but in a way and layout that doesn't over whelm the user.

I am going to need beta testers. Then I can get their feedback and make changes as needed.
