Port won't open!
« on: January 03, 2011, 10:02:07 AM »
Hi!

I'm trying to port forward this port, 25565 but I can't get this port open.
I have tried logging into my router and add the port in port forwarding section and I have tried Simple Port Forwarding program! And still my port is NOT open!

I don't know what do to! I need this port open for my Minecraft server!

So what can I do now? I have tried to turn off my Windows Firewall (all I got), but that didn't help.

Screenshot in my D-Link DIR-655 router port forwarding:

Please, help!

The screen didn't post

Take a screen shot of the main window of my simple port forwarding program. This will let me see the local IP.
Then post a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router. This will let me check the rule

"Attachments and other options" are below when you post

Go in and delete both of those rules.  You can't overlap rules and right now you have two different sets of port forwarding rules for minecraft.  It looks like you are pointing to 2 different machines and if you want to do that then you have to use different ports or only one machine.

Okay, now I deleted the other rules, but that didn't help.

Did you take out the first rule called "Minecraft" that is pointing to x.x.x.196?  Remember you can only have a given port pointed to a single machine.

I realize that you don't have it checked but your router might still be confused.  It is best to go ahead and remove it to see if that fixes your problem.  If it does then you can try adding it again for another computer and see if you can manage it just by checking or unchecking the rule.

Somehow I completely missed that. My bad.

Can you check and make sure that your WAN/Internet IP in the router is the same as you see on the port tester page?

After you verify that, make sure you reboot the router and then try again.

If I'm not mistaken you use NextGenTel as your service provider and if that's correct then your modem is also a router.  You can verify this by going to the status page of your D-Link and see if the internet address matches the address you see on the port status tool.

If it is different then you are most likely behind a second router and you'll need to log into your modem and check it's internet address.  If that is the same as the one you see on the port status tool then you'll need to follow how to set up port forwarding with 2 routers.  Read This Page.

Yes! I made it!

I connected to the Speedtouch modem (10.0.0.1) that is connected to the D-Link Dir-655 router and added a game/application rule and entered the port and now 25565 port is open!

Yes!!  :cheesy:

Thank you guys so much for the help!

Or wait. Simply Port Forwarding program says it open but program as PFPortChecker says it closed.

Or, when i choosed protocol UDP in PFPortChecker is says that the port is open but not when TCP is choosed.

Can you use PcWinTech's Port Status Checker instead.  We know how it works and can provide more accurate support.

You are almost there though.

My bad...you need to go into the speedtouch and use DMZ and point that to the Internet IP address of your D-Link.  This will most likely be 10.0.0.2 (but be sure to check for sure).  What this will do is to tell the speedtouch to pass everthing to the D-Link and the D-Link will do all the routing and port forwarding.  You need to do this since you are connecting your computers to the D-Link.

Basically all you've done is port forwarded to the D-Link.

You're close though.
