Mini Mon Button
« on: December 26, 2010, 11:42:54 AM »
Shane – One problem and a question.  ‘Percent memory used’ is not centered on the green button, but displayed in extreme lower right corner with the right half of the LSD and a portion of the bottoms of both digits cut off.  Digits appear boldface, unlike earlier version.  No other screen anomalies present.    Not good for someone with less than eagle eyes.  I toggled ‘Show “Memory Used”’ several times then REVO’d and reinstalled program (v.1.6.4) -- no joy.  My bad or other issues at work here?  Did not see a similar post on this forum.  (Win7 x64; 16:9 LCD, 1680x1050, Radeon 567X)

Just curious—I have 8GB RAM installed and relocated pagefile (12GB fixed) to another fast HDD.  Though I rarely use more than about 30% of RAM (thanks I’m sure in part to CleanMem) unless working graphics/video, I am constantly using 1-3GB of pagefile.  Any short explanation for this?

BTW, thanks for the programs and the tremendous support you provide the great unwashed out here.  Hope y’all have a great 2011!

I have 8gbs of ram and my page file is about 1.6 to 2 gb. Its just the way windows uses the page file.
Its normal to have it that high on a high memory system.

As of 1.6.4 I made the icons in the system tray customizable
http://forums.pcwintech.com/index.php/topic,1620.0.html

I use a Windows API to center the text.
Can you post a screen shot of the icon?
You may just need to change the font and size to get it to fit right. Currently here is what I use

font = Arial
font size= 8.25
font bold= True
font italic= False

And it shows fine for me. So check and see what yours is set at. Perhaps it is using a different font by chance?

Shane – Wow! A reply in less than 10 minutes on 26 Dec.  I feel guilty.  You should be assembling/repairing the kids’ new toys.

Anyway, your request for a screen shot led me to discover a key part of the problem.  My screen resolution is set to 143% to accommodate aging eyes, and neither of my screen capture tools would allow me to snap the far lower right portion of the screen where the sys tray lives.  I reset the resolution to 100% and, viola, the number centered perfectly.  Tweaking the font size doesn’t help as relative center positions appear to be proportional.

I really cannot function well with the screen at 100%, so I guess I’ll either live with the quirky display or revert to an earlier version if they are still available—the one I was using was quite old, but did not exhibit this problem.

Thanks again for the assist, and I mean this in the best way—get a life—at least until after the holidays! lol

No problem :-)

I am just cleaning the house while the wife is gone before all the family gets here

Don't go back to an old version. I made performance enhancements and I would rather fix the problem then force my users to go to an old version.

In the old version all the icons where static, that's why they fit for you.
I was going to keep the static icons in the program but didn't. So what I will do is search for a way to keep windows from changing the font size and keep it independent. If I cant find a way to do that I will add the static icons back and allow the user to use those or the custom icons. This way you will be covered :-)

I am taking a break and I am going to look at some code and see if I can find a fix :-)

Looks like I got it fixed :-)

Problem is the resizing of the icon in the system tray. I made some quick code that resizes it better so the text is center again :-)

You up for a quick test for me so I can put the update out?

Sorry, had to step away for a bit.  V.1.6.5 works like a charm.  I'm still flabbergasted by your support.  Thanks so much.

Good to hear it works :-)

On the page file usage. Right now the API that I use to pull it shows the same number as the page file usage in Windows XP task manger.

Yet I have seen a few users in other forums (Even though none of them have come to me) that say that's not the right page file usage.

Which is odd to me, I am pulling the Info from windows and it is the same that shows up in the task manger.

So I am looking into it to make sure I have it pulling the right info

Once I look into that tonight I will put the new version out :-)

Ok I will get the new version out :-)

The API shows how much is committed to the page file. Not the actual usage. In fact the only spot in Windows you can get the actual usage is in the performance monitor. All the API's show how much is committed to the page file. Even the Windows Task Manger

So I will leave it as is and make sure I make note of that on the cleanmem page  :cheesy:
