PS3 Nat Type 3 issues.
« on: December 16, 2010, 09:43:14 AM »
Okay I know absolutely nothing about modems and routers, but after following one of Shane's other threads, I was able to get my UPnP available on my playstation 3.  But, it's still running at Nat type 3 and I have no idea what else to do.  I have a Belkin F5D8236 router, with upnp enabled on it and my modem.  Please help me.

I am not sure what it is about the belkins, but the trick with them is to put your modem into bridge mode. What this does is send the Internet IP to the belkin. After that the PS3 will work with UPnP

You will need your DSL username and password first. You may need to call the ISP to get it. And also what is your modem/router?

Is that for a modem or router, because mine is a modem.  It's menu doesn't have some of those options.

Perhaps I have the wrong model for you, check the sticker on the modem :-)
Your modem is also a router.

The sticker says that the model number is EQ-660 ADSL Router.  My ISP told me that it doesn't give out usernames and passwords, which is kind of odd.

LOL, they would have to if you needed to get connected. the EQ-660 is a Zyxel modem/router.
If we do the transparent mode you wont need the username and pass for the dsl.

I think I have screen shots for that model, I will check

If so, for Mode, what options do you get?

Yeah that's the exact menu.  I found out I can run transparent mode, but I can't get a username or password.

You shouldn't need it in transparent mode.

as on that page
Quote
In Transparent mode (which usually is NOT documented in the Zyxel doc) you have the same advantages as in the bridge mode, but you do not need a Router/Firewall that is able to do the PPPoE authentication, the Zyxel Router can do it as in the Standard Mode. The Public IP-Address (93.251.44.193) is now on the internal site of the Zyxel Router. We use a Cisco 2600 Router/Firewall, which is very complicated to setup for the PPPoE authentication - with the Zyxel Router in Transparent mode we can further use the Cisco 2600 Router.

So the modem should keep the username and password and you don't have to put it into the belkin
