Title: Asus G60Vx Laptop: Lost Speaker Sound
Post by: steelgtr on May 24, 2013, 06:05:12 AM

Shane,

I'm supposed to be buying this laptop from a friend but all of a sudden I lost speaker sound.  Headphone jack works  fine and the Realtek HD sound notifies when the headphones are plugged in or out telling me that the jack is not stuck.

I've uninstalled the audio drivers done a system restore but still no speaker sound!

thx

EDIT:  I shut the lid and when it woke up, I had sound!  Further testing to follow

I have a laptop where the sound keeps cutting in and out, reboot normally gets it working till it stops again.

Normally if the head phone jacks work it is the speakers and not the sound card, but sometimes it can be the sound card itself.

It's very repeatable:  Boot PC, no sound,  Close lid to sleep momentarily, when it wakes up, sound.  Every time!

That does sound like a driver problem.

But try this, boot up and when there is no sound go stop the and restart the Windows Audio service and see if it works then.
