Title: Effects on wireless Network if I install Windows 8?
Post by: rogerbid on February 28, 2013, 12:27:37 AM
Hi everyone,

I am worried about installing Windows 8 on my desktop PC, currently running Windows 7.

I am happy enough to format the HDD and to do the actual installation but I am concerned about the effects on my wireless network.

The network currently connects my Win 7 desktop, a Win 7 laptop, an XP notebook, an old XP desktop and a PVR via a WiFi Bridge. The network has worked well for a few years and I cannot now remember how I set it all up so if Windows 8 gives me any problems I am not sure how I will fix them.

What will happen if I install Win 8 – will the network be intact immediately or will I have a lot of work to do? I am guessing I will be able to enter the Workgroup name (WORKGROUP) and name the computer during the installation, but if I need to change anything in the router then I will be stuck.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated, thanks,

Roger

It will work fine with older windows networks :-)

I had Windows 8 on my desktop for a few months. Dumped it and went back to 7.
