Title: Safe mode with networking wont work
Post by: shagger1 on June 04, 2012, 04:24:06 PM
Howdy
I use XP SP2 Home and when I boot into safe mode with networking
my local area connection is there but cant enable it-also my dsl account
connection is not there!Any Ideas??

I get a log in windows saying what was and was not loaded-network connections
were not loaded(network adapter) Dont really need to use the safe mode with
networking just wondering why it wont work-so the local area connection is there
but not the broadband account I have-also get a DCOM error about staring the service
in safe mode with arguments and that wont load.

Thanks
Rod

Safe mode is Windows loading the minimum it needs to run. SO when you choose safe mode with network it simply enables the network card, nothing more. So if there is another connection needed then it isnt going to work.

How ever if you have things setup normally it should.

You have your dsl modem and your network cable is plug into the computer and into the mode. Should be all you need. You dont need to have the DSL show up in the network connections

I do have my ethernet cable plugged in and still nothing- If I go tho the connections
tab in internet options there is nothing there-it is blank so there is nothing to connect to?
I try to enable the local area connection and it wont enable.

That is odd, not sure why it isnt doing it. Normally when I run safe mode with networking all network connections work.

The only thing I can think of is that it is a driver problem. Perhaps a driver for the network card cant run in safe mode?
